Elite Athlete Profile

Honing your competitive edge

For professional athletes, FitMed’s Elite Athlete Program can give an edge in an increasingly challenging pool of athletes, who are equipped with similar training regimens, high tech equipment and access to expert coaches. For example, our technology can pinpoint exactly where a professional golfer is carrying body fat or displaying muscle asymmetry, which might impact balance, ability to swing, or increase the potential of fatigue during a certain task.
Developed for serious athletes, FitMed’s elite athlete profile is designed to help these individuals perfect and maximize their athletic performance. Your Elite Athlete Profile includes:

  • Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) test to determine the basal calories your body burns to maintain itself at rest
  • Cardiometabolic Performance Test on treadmill or cycle to measure key data including peak VO2, anaerobic threshold and the precise number of calories burned at all exercise heart rate zones
  • Lactate Threshold Test to determine heart rate at lactate threshold
  • Consultation with Exercise Physiologist to determine an appropriate training intensity based on performance goals.

Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and specializing in Sports Medicine and Human Performance, FitMed founder, Bright McConnell, III, MD says, “As Americans, we are obsessed with weight on a scale, but pounds don’t translate into a true representation of our fitness; body composition is a truer test of a person’s fitness and body mass. It can give the average patient an exact benchmark for their healthiest weight and very specific goals and medical advice for achieving that. For the pros, similar to a swimmer’s half-second advantage, body composition can mean the difference between a gold or a bronze.”

In addition to our Elite Athlete Profile, FitMed Partners offers individual medically-based tests and services that will benefit your sports performance and fitness goals:

  • BOD POD Body Composition: Measures percent body fat
  • DXA scanner: Measures percent body fat and determines the location of the adiposity; critical for determining potential for health risks
  • Carotid Intima-Media Thickness (CIMT) to screen for cardiovascular risk.
