FitMed’s founding physician, Bright McConnell, III, MD, is a board certified orthopedic surgeon with subspecialty expertise in sports medicine and human performance. Dr. McConnell has served as a sports medicine fellow at the well-known Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic, participating in the care of the Los Angeles Rams, Lakers, Dodgers, and Kings.
A long-time resident of Charleston, SC, Dr. McConnell has maintained a busy orthopedic and sports medicine practice since 1985 and served as team physician to the College of Charleston athletic teams until 2003.
Total fitness from a custom exercise program
As part of our program, we may complete a comprehensive fitness assessment, administered by a FitMed exercise physiologist who will evaluate your current fitness level, including body fat, cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength, balance, flexibility, and range of motion. A series of questionnaires will be completed prior to this visit. Once testing is done, your exercise physiologist will review the results with you and provide a personalized exercise prescription to maximize your fitness and training goals.
One size does not fit all
As with any other FitMed program, your exercise plan is individually developed for you and your body to promote the best possible results. Your fitness plan will outline exercise frequency and duration and intensity of each exercise, along with any appropriate nutritional information. In addition, you will be given exercise progression guidelines to optimize your results.
